Impromptu Happy New Year

I got a happy surprise today when—guess who visited at home for New Year’s Eve lunch?

I’ve been really thankful for the past few days. And the thing is, the past few days actually sum up my 2011. When I look back to what I was doing exactly around this time last year (in Downtown Disney, hoping to catch a glimpse of fireworks with my sister), I don’t think that I could have ever imagined then how I would turn out a year after. Back then in December 31, 2011, I just had a brand new black bonnet from H&M safely tucked in my suitcase to take back home because this cute little brother of a friend kindly asked me to buy him one. Now he doesn’t really wear a bonnet anymore. And he’s not so much of a little brother either.

So many things can really happen in one year.

I met so many new friends, adjusted to my old friends not being around school anymore (not without a hard time), did a whole lot of design work, took a whole lot of photographs, and started getting myself ready for graduation. Along the way, I found myself in a lot of ups and downs (mostly ups), a lot of really good adventures, rackets, places… I’m still so apprehensive about what’s to come, because things are going to change so much. I just really have to grit my teeth and remember that most of my friends are in transition phase, too, so I shouldn’t keep whining.

I wonder where I’ll be exactly a year from now? If I would grow as a person this coming year as much as I’ve grown during 2011, I say I’ll be really happy and proud of myself.
